Hawaii is ready to help covid-19 travelers avoid travel restrictions

Hawaii is poised to announce that it will extend travel restrictions to cover travelers from the Philippines, Russia, Ukraine and Venezuela, as well as any other countries with which the United States has a diplomatic relationship.

The announcement, made on Wednesday, comes a day after Trump tweeted his administration would “consider all options” to protect travelers from travel restrictions, including imposing new limits on the number of passengers the U.S. can admit each day.

The U.N. says at least 888,000 people have been infected with the coronavirus since the beginning of the year, with some 4,400 deaths reported.
